What is Interior Redesign?

  • Interior Redesign, as it applies to staging, is creating a style that will appeal to a wide range of buyers. Interior Design is creating a style that appeals to the owner of the home.

How do your services differ from what a Realtor can provide?

  • Home staging takes time. I recommend a home owner allow approximately 3 months prior to listing a home for proper staging. A Realtor may make suggestions such as decluttering but will assess the market value based on the current condition of the home.

Does Home Staging include repairs and upgrades?

  • It depends on the condition of the home. I recommend making repairs including dry rot, painting if necessary, and other obvious repairs. I also recommend upgrades to improve the appearance of the home such as light fixtures, front door hardware, faucet fixtures, etc. Buyers are especially particular about kitchens and bathrooms and I recommend both be upgraded if needed.

How much money will I have to spend on my home?

  • Everyone's budget is different. I make my recommendations and suggestions and then it's up to the homeowner how much they want to invest. If the flooring is in very bad shape, I may recommend you replace it which would be a large expense but would pay off in the end.

What do you mean by "curb appeal" ?

  • Curb appeal is the appearance of the front of your home from the road. This is the first impression the buyer has. Many buyers will do a drive-by of homes for sale before requesting to see the inside. Their decision to want to see more will depend on what they see from the road.

Who can help with the staging?

  • Some of the work you can do yourself. A handyman who can do minor plumbing, minor electrical, and minor carpentry would be the best choice. I have a list of names of handymen if you don't have your own.

Is it too late to stage a home after it's been on the market for a while?

  • No, it's never too late to stage your home for sale. However, if you wait until after it's been listed, you've lost quite a few potential buyers that looked at your home before you staged it and bought another home. If your home has not sold within 90 days, that's considered too long. It has been said that staged homes sell 50% quicker than homes that have not been staged.
